At primary school, I was a straight A student. In fact, I was dux of Manly State School. But for some reason, when I started at high school, I dropped the ball. Grade eight wasn’t so bad but I had a shocking couple of years after that. The low point? I remember giving a talk in either English or History and completely making it all up. It was just nonsensical and of course my teacher knew I was speaking a load of rubbish. Frankly, I was lucky to pass grades nine and ten.
