It was the day before the Opening Ceremony at the 2000 Olympics, our very last training session before our first game of the Olympic Games. I played middle hitter/blocker. We were doing a blocking drill and as I went to close the outside block, I jumped up, and when I came down, I landed on my team mates foot. I had an ankle brace on and it snapped in half, I sprained my ankle. I immediately got rushed back to the village to get x-rays and see doctors. As I sat in a wheelchair waiting for the doctors, I was pinching myself, it was so surreal... All these years of dedication and sacrifices, to finally get to the Olympics and have this happen. The doctor came out... 'Sorry Selina, but with the damage you've done, you're not going to play in the Olympics'. In a second, my dream was destroyed.
