I now provide public speaking to high school students, and my talks consist of my life experience; including my head injury and my later encounter with a semi-trailer. I strive to make my presentations engaging and relevant for students, as young drivers are the most likely to take risks, like I did.
I have also worked with Paraplegic Benefit Fund and Road Saftey Education. PBF are a non-profit organisation aiming to reduce the incidence and impact of spinal cord injuries. I am the only speaker in this nationally based organisation that is not a paraplegic or quadriplegic, which makes me a bit of a pioneer.
The circumstances around my two accidents hopefully hit home for the students, and I can actually make a difference.
If I can save just one life or prevent one accident, I have served the community well.
